//MORE ABOUT THE ARTISTS//
Captain Moonlight is a one piece(sometimes more) hip hop act, all performed with a dash of punk, a swing of a hurl, and a Folk Horror narrative. After the half arsed release of the noughties Agroculture trilogy which included the chart friendly hits and misses, Dirty Cunts, Economics Of A Wasted Life and Fuck U, a fallow period followed. Captain Moonlight 2.0 is older, angrier, more misguided, forgetful, half blind, though slightly less drunk, and all out for revenge in his deluded deflective blame approach. This time, done in anti-fascist garb, looking to fight the Taoiseach while waving a Palestinian flag, all wrapped in a post covid psychosis. Meanwhile, committing to another cowardly attempt at finishing the recording of his forthcoming album Offences Against The State Act 1, due for release soon…..ish.
Talha AlAli AKA Talha Wise Wolf is a Palestinian psychotherapist who’s also an activist, hip-hop artist and a human rights defender. Talha was born a few months before the start of the first Intifada, lived his teenage years in the West Bank during the second Intifada and started fighting for political change and social justice in the early 2000s through music and theatre. Then he became involved in work with civil society NGOs. Through his career, Talha worked with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors Without Borders. Worked with ActionAid, and Amnesty International Ireland.
Blue Niall is a bilingual artist designer and musician. His music fuses ceol traidisiúnta with contemporary rap beats to make a sounds reflecting the chaos and contradiction of éire today.
Mory is a Dublin based rapper who pioneers a unique sound in Irish hip hop. A Gaeilgeoir who expresses political activism through his songs, his music is evidence of an upbringing through hip-hop and Irish music simultaneously. He blends hip hop instrumentals with Irish traditional musicians while rapping protest lyrics in a Gaeilge/English hybrid. Straying from the mainstream idea of modern hip-hop, Mory takes lyrical inspiration more so from the likes of Damien Dempsey and Sinead O’Connor. Coming from a heritage of the world’s greatest poets Mory sees the medium of hip-hop as a new vessel to continue the millenniums old oral traditions of the land.
Damai Soundsystem was started by record collector, Bob Damai, with his friend and long time collaborator Salim Dastan aka Mr. Upfull, versatile producer and composer. It was reggae dance music which brought the two together. Into this mix, Aminah brings her freestyle flow to the mic. Expect choise roots records original productions and a complete sonic experience.
Entry to the market is FREE all day.
Donations are encouraged at the day time gig.
